Selenite is a variety of gypsum characterized by transparent blades or sheets. Selenite, satin spar, desert rose, and gypsum flower is four crystal structure varieties of the mineral gypsum and, typically grouped, are referred to as Selenite. All Selenite is very soft and can be easily scratched with a fingernail. It occurs in various colors caused by other mineral inclusions- colorless, white or pearly, gray-brown, beige, orange, pink, yellow, light red, and even green. 


 Natural Selenite has natural blemishes and imperfections. Selenite may also exhibit natural "veining" throughout the crystal. Please anticipate some natural spots.

Selenite is a transparent stone that is colorless in hue. Selenite is referred to as the television stone, because when cut and polished across the fiber ends, it exhibits an optical illusion when placed on a surface of print or picture. Selenite translates from Greek to mean moon.
